BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut has triggered a fresh controversy after posting a series of sharply worded comments on Instagram targeting Gen Z and young Hindu women. The remarks, shared through her Instagram Stories, have drawn criticism on social media for being offensive and derogatory.
In her post, Ranaut questioned what she described as a growing trend among some young women who, according to her, wish to imitate the lifestyle of financially independent women without earning that freedom through their own efforts. She argued that truly independent women make bold career choices, express strong opinions, and take responsibility for their decisions without depending on their families.
The controversy intensified when the BJP MP used the term “Generation Gutter” for a section of the younger generation. She alleged that some young people contribute little to society, are not serious about education and publicly glorify activities such as drug use, alcohol consumption and casual relationships.
Ranaut further claimed that a new generation of Indian women is becoming excessively influenced by Western culture while continuing to rely on their parents financially. Her comments have been widely circulated online, with many users accusing her of insulting young women and reinforcing regressive stereotypes.
The remarks have surfaced at a politically sensitive time, with the NEET paper leak controversy already creating intense debate across the country and putting the Union government under pressure. Critics have linked the timing of her comments to the broader national discussion surrounding student protests and education-related issues.
As of now, Kangana Ranaut has not issued any clarification or apology regarding the controversial statements. The episode has once again placed the actor-turned-politician at the center of a heated public and political debate over freedom of expression and the language used by public representatives.
