The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is forming governments in three out of five states—West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry. Celebrations are underway at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed party workers, calling the moment “historic and unprecedented.”

He said that when years of dedication turn into success, the happiness is visible on every worker’s face across the country. “Today I can see that joy among party workers nationwide,” he added.

Referring to his earlier statement made on November 14 last year, the Prime Minister said he had then remarked that the Ganga flows from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar. “With today’s victory in Bengal, the lotus has blossomed from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar—Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and now West Bengal,” he said, adding that BJP-led NDA governments are now in power across the states located along the Ganga.

Modi further said that women in West Bengal will feel safer, youth will get more employment opportunities, and migration will be reduced. He announced that the Ayushman Bharat health scheme would be approved in the very first cabinet meeting, and strict action would be taken against infiltrators.

Paid tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee

Paying tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, the Prime Minister said his soul would now find peace. He recalled that Mukherjee founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951 with the message that one must live and die for the nation. He also highlighted Mukherjee’s struggle to ensure Bengal remained an integral part of India.
