Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken action against a warehouse of Parle Agro, the company behind popular beverages such as Frooti and Appy Fizz, in Mumbai after officials found a substantial stock of expired food and beverage products during a raid.

FDA seized expired stock worth around ₹99,970 and suspended the food business licence of the warehouse following the inspection. The premises were also sealed, with officials prohibiting the sale or movement of products from the facility until further orders.

The raid was conducted at Parle Agro's Velocity Express warehouse in the Chembur area of Mumbai, located on L.U. Gadkari Marg in the Prayag Nagar, Vashi Naka area.

During the inspection, FDA officials found several expired batches of Frooti, Appy Fizz and Candy Juice. The seized products have been barred from being sold or transported to other locations.

Operation Continued Overnight

According to media reports, the FDA operation began at around 6 pm on August 13 and continued until approximately 5 am on August 14. A team of eight FDA officials was involved in the operation.

Apart from seizing the expired stock and sealing the warehouse, authorities also took possession of two vehicles allegedly being used to transport the products.

Why Was the Licence Suspended?

Following the inspection, the FDA suspended the warehouse's food business licence. Officials said that no food or beverage products can be sold or moved from the premises until further orders.

The action is part of the Maharashtra FDA's ongoing drive to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and prevent the sale or distribution of expired products.

No Confirmation on Sale to Consumers

There is currently no information indicating whether the seized expired stock had already reached the market or whether any consumer had purchased or consumed the products. The FDA has so far restricted the sale and transportation of the seized stock.

Consumers have therefore been advised to rely on official updates rather than unverified claims regarding the incident.

FDA Intensifies Food Safety Inspections

The action against the Parle Agro warehouse comes amid intensified food safety inspections by the Maharashtra FDA in Mumbai. Earlier, on August 12, the licences of four Domino's Pizza outlets were reportedly suspended as part of the department's food safety enforcement drive.
