CHANDIGARH: The district consumers Disputes Redressal Forum has fined  a marriage bureau for failing to provide a suitable match for a Sector 27 resident, the second case against the private company in five months.

Gunjan Sareen said she availed the services of Wedding Wish, sec. 36, by making a payment of Rs 58,650 for the Royal Plan having a duration of 12 months on June2,2016. The bureau was to upload 21 profiles in her account and arrange meetings/ conferences to help her find a suitable match.

They had been proposing matches which were meaningless and not covering the demand made by me, Gunjan said. Gunjan alleged the men she was made to speak to were not even aware about the bureau.

The bureau said the complainant had herself terminated its service and the reason behind it was that her marriage was fixed in between and she was interested in getting her money back, which as per clause 11 of the service agreement, she was not entitled to.

The bureau was directed to refund Rs 52,704, the money paid by Gunjan, after deducting administrative charges. The bureau was further directed to pay Rs 5,000 as litigation cost.
