Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping shared a brief interaction on the sidelines of the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with the exchange emerging as one of the notable moments of the gathering.
The interaction took place after world leaders assembled for the official group photograph. As the leaders stepped down from the stage and began leaving the venue, Modi and Xi were seen exchanging greetings and engaging in a short conversation while walking together.
Footage from the summit also showed Russian President Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping greeting Modi before the group photograph. Putin was seen warmly shaking hands with the Indian Prime Minister as leaders gathered on stage.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also briefly interacted with Modi before the photo session, underscoring the diplomatic engagements taking place on the summit’s sidelines.
SCO summit brought together leaders from member nations to discuss regional security, economic cooperation, trade and connectivity. Beyond the formal agenda, interactions among major world leaders attracted significant attention, reflecting ongoing diplomatic engagement among key regional powers.
26th SCO Summit is expected to focus on strengthening multilateral cooperation and addressing shared challenges facing the region.
