Nepal Police on Friday issued a fresh alert after receiving information that a water barrier in the Tibetan region had breached again, raising concerns of another severe flood in parts of Nepal.

In a social media post, Nepal Police urged security personnel, rescue and relief workers, and the general public to remain on high alert and immediately move to safer locations. People were also asked to inform others in their surroundings about the potential danger.

The latest warning comes as several parts of Nepal are already reeling from the devastation caused by recent floods and flash floods.

Earlier on Friday morning, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck China's Sichuan region, following which a flood warning was issued in Nepal. An official told ANI that all activities in the affected area, including road reconstruction work, had been suspended as a precautionary measure.

Nepal Police Official Issues Warning

Nepal Police official P. Chaudhary said authorities were evacuating people from the area due to the possibility of a sharp rise in water levels.

“Water levels are expected to rise, so everyone is being stopped. All vehicles involved in rescue operations are returning. Everyone is being evacuated and taken to safe locations. All work has been stopped. There is a possibility of an even more severe flood, which is why everyone is being alerted,” Chaudhary said.

Authorities have asked people in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant and follow evacuation and safety instructions to avoid further loss of life and property.
