BJP Launches Strong Campaign for 2027 Elections from Moga, Punjab
Punjab Newsline, Killi Chahlan (Moga)-
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress over issues such as drugs, corruption, unemployment, law and order, and religious conversions in Punjab.
He was addressing a historic BJP rally at Killi Chahlan in Moga. The Bharatiya Janata Party formally began its campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections from this historic “Badlav Rally”, under the leadership of Amit Shah taking a pledge to form the government in the state.
Addressing the rally, Amit Shah said that during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP received 19% of the vote in Punjab. He claimed that wherever the BJP gets around 19% vote share, the party eventually forms the government. Citing examples of Odisha, Tripura, Manipur and Uttarakhand, he said that Punjab would be the next state.
Mann Acting Like Kejriwal’s Pilot
Amit Shah said Punjab has filled the nation’s food granaries and Punjabi soldiers guard India’s borders. However, he said it is unfortunate that Punjab practically has no functioning government today.
“If there was a real government, the law and order situation would not be so bad, drugs would have been eliminated, and the condition of farmers would have improved,” he said.
He also remarked that the AAP government had promised change, but asked what the Chief Minister of Punjab was actually doing. According to Shah, CM Bhagwant Mann is doing nothing more than acting as a pilot flying Arvind Kejriwal around other states in a helicopter.
Promises Not Fulfilled
Criticizing the AAP government, Shah questioned whether the party fulfilled its promises:
25 lakh jobs, Eliminating drugs within four months, Opening 16,000 government clinics, Increasing old-age and widow pensions to ₹2500, Opening 16 medical colleges in Punjab.
He also said the promise of earning ₹20,000 crore annually from mining was not fulfilled. The promises of giving MSP on all crops and providing ₹5 lakh compensation to victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots were also forgotten.
Shah alleged that the AAP government had betrayed Punjab and described it as a corrupt government. He said the Chief Minister should feel ashamed as four “supervisors” from Delhi are controlling the state and taking resources back to Delhi. According to him, the Punjab government has become an ATM for Kejriwal.
What BJP Will Do
Amit Shah also pointed out the major challenges facing Punjab. He said the law and order system has collapsed, police officers are being killed, and 45% of the heroin seized in the country is found in Punjab. Corruption is at its peak and religious conversions are increasing.
He said the AAP government has failed to solve these issues. The Akali Dal and Congress had earlier opportunities but they too failed.
Therefore, he appealed to the people to give one chance to the BJP. He said the BJP government had earlier abrogated Article 370, weakened terrorism and eliminated Naxalism.
Shah promised that if the BJP forms the government in Punjab, drug Problem will be eliminated within two years, and a law will be passed to stop religious conversions.
Modi Government Serving Sikh Community
Amit Shah said that with the blessings of the Sikh Gurus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi got the opportunity to commemorate, The 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji,
He added that the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, which remained in Pakistan due to Congress failures, was opened by the Modi government. The government also started Veer Bal Diwas in memory of the Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Shah further said that during the Modi government’s tenure, 350 cases related to the anti-Sikh riots were reopened, and the guilty Congress leaders were sent to jail.
Addressing Rahul Gandhi, Shah referred to the statement made by Rajiv Gandhi during the 1984 riots: “When a big tree falls, the earth shakes.”
He also criticized Congress by saying that while the Modi government serves the Sikh community, Congress had once sent tanks to the Akal Takht Sahib. The Modi government also brought the Shiromani Committee under FCRA provisions and exempted langar from GST, he added.
BJP the Only Alternative
Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar said that the foundation they talked about laying during the Maghi Mela rally has now been firmly established at the Killi Chahlan rally.
Punjab BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has mortgaged the pride of Punjabis before Kejriwal. He said entire families are being destroyed due to drugs and robberies are taking place in broad daylight.
Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu said that looking at the crowd today, it seems as if the entire Punjab has come to see Amit Shah. He said the rally clearly shows which side Punjab now stands on.
Former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, former Union Minister Vijay Sampla, Shwet Malik, Manoranjan Kalia, Avinash Rai Khanna and Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi also addressed the rally.
