A young man was shot dead late Friday night in Shahura village of Amritsar, allegedly over an old rivalry. The deceased has been identified as Guravatar Singh, the only son of his parents. The incident has left the village in shock and the family grieving.
According to the victim's father, Lahora Singh, his son had an ongoing dispute with villagers Gurjant Singh, Honey, and their associates. He alleged that the accused arrived at their dera on a motorcycle late at night and called Guravatar Singh outside.
As Guravatar stepped out, an argument reportedly broke out between the two sides. The family alleged that the dispute escalated when Gurjant Singh and Honey allegedly pulled out pistols and opened fire on Guravatar Singh, hitting him multiple times.
The seriously injured victim collapsed at the scene. His family rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot, inspected the crime scene, and took the body into custody for a post-mortem examination. Based on statements from the victim's family, a case has been registered against the named accused, and further investigation is underway.
