Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, arrived in Parliament on Wednesday wearing black clothes to protest against the alleged NEET paper leak. The Opposition has demanded a detailed discussion on the issue in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, accusing the government of failing to protect the interests of students.
The government responded by saying it is ready to hold a discussion on the matter following the Congress protest. Reacting to the offer, Priyanka Gandhi said the government cannot play with the future of students and must address their concerns seriously.
The protest follows Tuesday's demonstration by Congress leaders near the Prime Minister's residence, where they demanded accountability over the alleged examination irregularities.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of playing politics over students' issues and calling his actions irresponsible.
Speaking to the media, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra backed the students' protests, saying their demands are legitimate and they are fighting for their rights. She also alleged that while the education budget stands at ₹1.4 lakh crore, the government has waived loans worth ₹16 lakh crore for major industrialists.
Separately, leaders of opposition parties held a meeting in the office of Rajya Sabha Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss their parliamentary strategy and other key political issues.
