Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging that the country continues to witness discrimination and atrocities against Dalits.

Addressing a press conference, Gandhi said that India is still witnessing a battle between two ideologies — the Constitution and the ideology of the RSS.

He alleged that discrimination against Dalits, which has continued for decades, has still not ended. Gandhi claimed that separate cups are kept for Dalits at some tea stalls, while in some places Dalit men are allegedly assaulted for riding horses during weddings. He also alleged that Dalit students are sometimes made to perform cleaning work in schools.

Gandhi further accused the BJP of being unable to accept the progress of Dalits, saying that the more successful a Dalit becomes, the greater the opposition they face.

Rahul Gandhi Demands FIR Over ‘Purification Havan’

Referring to an incident in Haldwani, Gandhi said that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had addressed a public rally at the Ramlila Maidan on August 8, 2026.

He alleged that two days later, members of the Shri Ram Sena conducted a ‘shuddhikaran havan’ (purification ritual) at the same venue.

Gandhi said those responsible for the alleged purification ritual should face an FIR and stressed that the Congress president should receive justice.

The Congress leader reiterated that the ideological struggle between the Constitution and the RSS remains an important issue in the country.
