Congress general secretary and Punjab affairs in-charge Sachin Pilot held separate meetings with former party president Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in New Delhi, signalling a renewed focus on the party’s strategy in Punjab.

Pilot’s back-to-back meetings with the Gandhi family assume significance as he has recently taken charge of Punjab affairs. The meetings have also triggered speculation about possible organisational changes and a fresh strategy to strengthen the Congress in the state ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
According to sources, Pilot is likely to visit Punjab soon, where he is expected to meet senior Congress leaders, MLAs and party office-bearers. The discussions are likely to focus on strengthening the party organisation, assessing the political situation and preparing a roadmap for the Assembly polls.
The proposed visit is considered particularly important ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s expected Punjab tour later this month. Preparations for Pilot’s visit have reportedly begun within the Punjab Congress unit.
The leadership meetings in Delhi are being closely watched within the party, with indications that the Congress could undertake strategic and organisational measures to improve its electoral preparedness in Punjab.
