Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for the past two days. She was admitted on Tuesday night at around 10:22 PM after suffering from abdominal and urinary infections.

Rahul Gandhi has been by his mother’s side at the hospital, personally looking after her. In a video shared on the Congress party’s social media platforms, he spoke about spending the night on a small sofa in her hospital room, expressing concern for her health like any devoted son.

Due to his mother’s health condition, Rahul Gandhi skipped the all-party meeting held at Parliament on Wednesday and also cancelled his scheduled visit to Kerala. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge attended the meeting in his place, while Rahul addressed the gathering virtually.

Last night, I was sleeping on a small sofa in my mother's room at the hospital. Just as any son would be concerned about his mother's health, I, too, was worried.

Throughout the night, I found solace in just one thing. I found comfort in a nurse from Kerala who came to check on my mother every hour. Every single hour, she would come in and look after her. She would smile and hold her hand. I thought to myself: how many sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters have nurses from Kerala comforted during their most difficult moments?

Early in the morning, I asked her, "Do you sleep at night, or do you work through the night?" She replied, "I work through the entire night." So, while the whole world is sleeping, the women of Kerala—not just in Kerala, but in Delhi, across the country, and all over the world—are providing comfort to people. They are holding their hands and making them feel at ease.
