With crowds thronging markets during Diwali celebrations, the Chandigarh Police implemented comprehensive and tight security arrangements across the city to maintain law and order. Additional security personnel were deployed at prominent locations and shopping malls to ensure public safety.
To keep a close watch on suspicious activities, 42 temporary checkpoints (floating nakas) were established across various parts of the city. Personnel from the 51st Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) alongside local police manned entry and exit points. Furthermore, anti-social element response teams and explosive detection squads conducted rigorous checking operations in crowded markets.
