Three suspects have been arrested from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in connection with the murder of Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of Suvendu Adhikari. The accused have been taken to West Bengal for further investigation.

According to the West Bengal CID, Mayank Raj Mishra and Vicky Maurya were detained from Buxar in Bihar, while Raj Singh was picked up from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday night. All three were formally arrested on Monday morning. Officials said Raj Singh is believed to be a sharp shooter.

The 42-year-old Chandranath Rath was shot dead on May 6, just two days after the West Bengal election results were announced. The incident took place in the Madhyamgram area of North 24 Parganas district.

Investigators said the attackers intercepted Rath’s car and opened fire multiple times. He sustained three bullet injuries to the chest and abdomen, leading to his death. Authorities are continuing the probe to determine the motive behind the killing.
