A 36-year-old woman teacher was found hanging in her rented accommodation in Haryana's Panchkula district, police said. The deceased, identified as Anita, had reportedly not answered phone calls for the past two days.
According to officials, Anita's husband, Raghubir, who works in an IT company in Gurugram, became concerned after failing to contact her and asked their 12-year-old son to check on her. The boy, who lives with his maternal uncle in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, travelled to Kalka's Housing Board Colony along with his uncle.
Upon reaching the house, they found the door locked from inside. Using a ladder to look through a window, they discovered Anita hanging from a ceiling fan. Police were informed immediately.
During the investigation, police recovered a diary containing a handwritten suicide note from the room. In the note, Anita allegedly mentioned that she was distressed over her husband's suspected relationship with another woman.
Anita was a resident of Sarah village in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district and had been married to Raghubir for 14 years. She was employed as a Junior Basic Teacher (JBT) and was posted at a government school in Parwanoo, near Kalka. She had been living alone in the rented house due to her job, while her husband worked in Gurugram.
The victim's brother, Devichand, alleged that the couple had been experiencing marital discord for several years. He claimed Anita suspected her husband of having an affair with a woman named Rachna, which frequently led to arguments between them.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim's family, police have registered a case against Raghubir for allegedly abetting the suicide. Further investigation is underway.
