Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Wednesday, handed over appointment letters to 17 newly recruited employees on compassionate ground. While congratulating the appointees, the Cabinet Minister urged them to work with dedication and missionary zeal to serve the society.

Several candidates appointed today in the Transport Department emotionally shared that they had been waiting for jobs for 10 to 32 years, but previous govts never extended their support.

Newly appointed employee Sarbajeet Singh from village Nangal Feeda, Jalandhar district said that after his father Dara Singh's death, he applied for a job in the department in the year 1992. Sukhdev Singh, now in his 51st year of age, shared that after his father died on duty in 2000, he applied for a compassionate job. However, previous governments consistently pushed him aside, making him a subject of ridicule for nearly 24 years. 

Similarly, newly-appointed employees Sukhbir Singh from Jaspal Nagar, Amritsar and Rajinder Singh from Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Amritsar were got appointed after 18 years of waiting. Similarly, Asha from Ferozepur city and Jaswinder Singh from Kalka Panchkula received employment after 14 years, while Gagandeep Singh from Sri Muktsar Sahib secured a job after 13 years of anticipation.
