Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, December 2 -

The banks of Brahma Sarovar have been decorated with unique handicrafts made by craftsmen, who have come from different states in the Saras and Crafts Mela being organized from November 28 to December 15 at the International Gita Mahotsav-2024.

An artisan, who came from Assam to the International Gita Mahotsav, said he has brought with him beautiful home decoration items made of bamboo. He said he comes to the mahotsav every year and has been allotted a stall by the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB). The mahotsav has given a good platform to craftsmen to highlight the extinct handicrafts. The craftsmen have brought with them items made of bamboo for home decoration like fruit basket, flower pot, wall scenery, cup plate, wall hanging, table lamp, water bottle made of bamboo, etc.

They said they make all these items from bamboo in Assam and many people are involved in their making. They also provide employment opportunities to many others in this trade.
