Matter related to a person who has been living on Barfkhana land in Ambala for 85 years
Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-
Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij today sharply reprimanded the Superintending Engineer (SE) of the Discom in Ambala for removing the electricity meter of a family that has been living on Barfkhana land for 85 years. He said that "The electricity meter has been in place for years—how could you remove it from the house? Take action against the person who removed it. If he is a defaulter, take action as per the rules. If not, then who authorized the removal? Can’t a tenant have a meter installed at a house?"
Today, before Minister Anil Vij, a complaint was submitted by the family of Marcelino Naronha, who has been living on Barfkhana land for 85 years. They said that even though they have been residing there for decades and had paid their bills, the discom officials recently removed their meter. Taking the complaint seriously, Sh. Vij instructed the SE to take strict action. He directed an investigation into who removed the meter and why, and ordered that the meter be reinstalled immediately.
