Punjabnewsline, Chandigarh:
After taking over as Foreign Minister, S Jaishankar's big statement is coming out. He said that relations and problems with China and Pakistan are different. Jaishankar said this while addressing reporters after taking charge for the second consecutive term. Jaishankar said that we would like to find a solution to the age-old issue of cross-border terrorism with Pakistan. This cannot be the policy of a good neighbor.
It is worth noting that the leaders of both the countries have held diplomatic talks through X. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his elder brother and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have also congratulated Modi, which is said to be Pakistan's first reaction to the election results across the border. This exchange was started by Prime Minister Shahbaz, who gave a brief congratulatory message on X, saying that congratulations to @narendramodi on taking oath as the Prime Minister of India. To this, Prime Minister Modi replied with a simple acceptance that thank you @cmshehbaz for your best wishes.
However, on relations with China, Jaishankar said India will focus on finding a solution to border issues with China, which have long strained ties between the neighbouring countries. There are still some issues on the border with regard to China and our focus will be on resolving them, he said. India and China share a 3,800-km-long border, much of which is not properly demarcated, over which the nuclear-armed nations also fought a war in 1962. They have been engaged in a military standoff since July 2020, when at least 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese soldiers were killed in the worst clashes in five decades.
