A dispute over refusing to lend a car allegedly escalated into a fatal shooting in Punjab's Moga district, with police booking four people, including a husband and wife, on charges of murder and violations under the Arms Act.

According to police, the case was registered based on the statement of Tejinder Singh alias Jindi, a resident of Chida village. He told investigators that he was friends with Amandeep Singh Brar, who frequently borrowed his car. However, after objections from his family, Tejinder stopped lending the vehicle, leading to repeated arguments between the two over the phone.

The complainant alleged that on the night of June 17, he and his brother Jaskaran Singh alias Gaggu went to Amandeep Singh's house in Sukhanand village to resolve the issue. During the confrontation, a heated argument broke out between the two sides.

Police said Amandeep allegedly went inside the house during the altercation. The complaint further claims that his wife Gurpreet Kaur instructed their son Maninder Singh to bring a pistol from inside the house, after which the weapon was allegedly handed over to Amandeep.

The complainant alleged that Gurpreet Kaur incited Amandeep to kill the two brothers. Amandeep then allegedly fired a shot from over the boundary wall of his house, hitting Jaskaran Singh on his right shoulder. He collapsed after sustaining serious injuries. The complaint also mentions the presence of an unidentified person who allegedly supported the accused during the incident.

Jaskaran Singh was initially taken to the Civil Hospital at Bhagat Bhai Ka and later referred to Adesh Hospital in Bhucho, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Samalsar Police have registered a case against Amandeep Singh Brar, Gurpreet Kaur, Maninder Singh, and an unidentified person under charges of murder and the Arms Act. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
