Committee meeting held regarding awards to be given on International Women's Day on March 8

Haryana Minister of State for Women and Child Development Kamlesh Dhanda said that women who have made outstanding contributions will be honoured on International Women's Day. The state government will give awards to ‘Haryanvi’ talents who have made significant contributions in various fields at the international and national levels to promote women's empowerment.
Smt. Dhanda said this during a Committee meeting constituted to decide on the awards to be given on the occasion of International Women's Day. She said that the woman who wins the 'Sushma Swaraj Award' will be given a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a shawl and a citation.
She said that International Women's Day is celebrated every year on March 8. On this occasion, the Haryana government honours women who have brought glory to the state in various fields including education, culture, singing, art, medicine, social welfare, awareness, empowerment, sports and mountaineering at a state-level function.
She said that other awards categories, including the ‘Sushma Swaraj Award’, will also be given at the award ceremony. These include the ‘Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award’, the ‘Kalpana Chawla Shaurya Award, the ‘Behan Shanno Devi Panchayati Raj Award’ the 'Lifetime Achievement Award', the ANM/Nurses/MPW category award and others will be given. She said that the best performing Anganwadi workers in the state will also be given awards, for which interviews of the Anganwadi workers who have applied through the department were also conducted.
Honorary General Secretary of Haryana State Council for Child Welfare, Smt. Ranjeeta Mehta, Commissioner and Secretary of Women and Child Development Department, Smt.Amneet P. Kumar, Director, Women & Child Development, Smt.Monica Malik and officers of other departments remained present during the meeting.
