CHANDIGARH: Amid the threat of Omicron and fears of a third wave looming large, the Punjab Health infrastructure got a shot in the arm as Deputy Chief Minister Punjab O.P. Soni today handed over appointment letters to 28 Medical Officers (Specialist).Out of these 7 are Medicine Specialist, 8 Anaesthetists,6 Paediatricians, 5 Gynaecologists.
Disclosing more about this recruitment drive the Health Minister said that to control the spread of covid and to provide quality healthcare services to the people of Punjab, Health Department has expedited the ongoing recruitment drive. He further added that Punjab Government,had conceived a special initiative to provide jobs to the youth of Punjab under 'Ghar Ghar Rozgar' scheme and every effort is being made to achieve the objective to provide jobs to the unemployed youth. It may also be mentioned here that the Health Department Punjab has completed recruitment to more than 13000 posts of paramedical and other staff including medical officers.He said that all these appointments are being made by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in a transparent manner on the basis of merit.
It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab Health Department had advertised 423 vacancies of Specialist doctors and to address the shortfall of Specialist doctors in the Punjab Health Department, Mr. Soni has instructed to conduct walk in interview to fill these vacancies. Walk in interview for those given appointment orders today was conducted on December 11.
He also disclosed that such walk in interviews to recruit Specialist Doctors will be conducted every month in the future.
Mr. Soni congratulated the new appointees in the Health Department and encouraged them to discharge their responsibilities honestly and diligently in various health institutions of the state.
Raj Kamal Chaudhary Principal Secretary Health, welcomed the newly appointed Doctors who got jobs in the health department. He motivated them to work efficiently in this pandemic era and they have the opportunity to serve the nation by efficiently performing their duties in the Public health institutions of Punjab and contributing in ending this pandemic.
On this occasion, Director Health Services Punjab Dr.Andesh and other officials were also present.
