Punjab Congress Campaign Committee Chairman and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday dismissed speculation of internal discord, saying "all is well" after a meeting with the party leadership in Delhi.
Speaking to the media after meeting Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal, Channi reiterated that the Punjab unit remains fully committed to the party and its leadership.
"We are dedicated to the Congress and will follow the party line. Our workers and leaders stand firmly with the party," Channi said.
Expressing confidence in the leadership, he added, "We stand with the Congress. We respect the party high command. Rahul Gandhi is our leader, and we have great respect and affection for him. We have no intention of embarrassing or undermining anyone."
Channi said the Punjab leaders had conveyed their concerns and views to the party leadership, which listened to them patiently. He stressed that the final decision rests with the Congress high command.
"We only want to strengthen the Congress in Punjab. We have put forward our views, and the high command has heard us. Whatever decision the leadership takes, we will accept it and move forward accordingly. We have never worked against the party or tried to bring it into disrepute. We will abide by every decision. All is well," he said.
