The post-mortem examination of Mansa-based anti-drug activist Parminder Jhota was completed on Saturday. His last rites will be performed on Sunday, coinciding with Diwali.
According to the action committee, Jhota’s body will be brought from PGI Chandigarh at 5 pm on Saturday. It will first be taken to his residence and later to the protest site.
The cremation will take place between 12 noon and 1 pm on Sunday at his ancestral land near Chakerian Road. Preparations for the last rites have been completed.
Meanwhile, Jhota’s wife, Manpreet Kaur, has strongly objected to the trolling over the family's demands for a government job and compensation of Rs 2 crore. Reacting to the criticism, she said that those making such comments should bring a 12-bore gun to Mansa and shoot the entire family.
Jhota’s father, Bhim Singh, has also demanded that the Punjab government transfer Mansa SSP Vaibhav Chaudhary before his son's cremation.
He said he would not eat even a single grain of food until the SSP was transferred. Bhim Singh claimed that the issue had also been discussed during a meeting with Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Khuddian and Speaker Kultar Sandhwan.
Parminder Singh Jhota was shot dead on October 13. His killing had triggered protests and demands for action from his family and supporters.
