Antidrug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota was cremated today in Mansa amid a grief-stricken atmosphere. His eldest son and father, Bhim Singh, lit the funeral pyre with tearful eyes, nearly 26 days after his tragic death. Parvinder Jhota's mortal remains were taken to his ancestral farmland on Chakerian Road for the final rites, where a large number of people gathered to bid him a final farewell.

Earlier, following the completion of the post-mortem procedure at PGIMER, Chandigarh, on November 7, the body was handed over to the family at 5:00 AM today. Throughout the journey from Chandigarh to Mansa, people showered flower petals at various locations to pay emotional tribute to the departed activist.

Meanwhile, grieving father Bhim Singh has been on a continuous hunger strike for the past two days. He is demanding the immediate transfer of Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vaibhav Chaudhary prior to the cremation rituals, alleging that administrative and police failure to curb the drug menace led to his son's death. He has vowed to consume nothing until his demands are met, as local supporters express deep anguish over the sensitive case.
