Amritsar Police have launched a major crackdown on drug trafficking, recovering a total of 5.569 kg of heroin in three separate operations. Five suspects have been arrested and cases have been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police are now questioning the accused to trace the source of the heroin and identify others involved in the supply network.

The first operation was carried out by the Lopoke police in Vanike village. According to police, they received information that Sandeep Singh and Soraf Singh were allegedly procuring heroin from Pakistan and supplying it to different districts of Punjab. Acting on the information, police arrested both suspects and recovered 4 kg of heroin from their possession. Investigators are questioning them to identify other members of the alleged supply network.

The second operation took place in the Gharinda police station area, where police arrested Arjun Singh, a resident of Bachiwind. Police said he was allegedly involved in selling heroin and was waiting to deliver the drug to another person. A search led to the recovery of 1 kg of heroin from his possession.

In another operation in the Gharinda area, police arrested Vanshdeep Singh and Karandeep Singh. According to investigators, the two were allegedly walking from the Defence Canal side towards Attari to supply heroin. Police stopped and searched them, recovering 569 grams of heroin along with packing material.

Police said questioning of all five accused is underway to establish the wider drug supply chain and identify other people allegedly involved in the trafficking network.
