Amritsar Rural Police have dismantled a major drug and illegal arms supply network by arresting 10 alleged members of the syndicate during coordinated raids across multiple locations. The police recovered 11 pistols, 11 magazines, 11 kg of heroin, over 1 kg of ice (crystal methamphetamine), and ₹52,000 in suspected drug money. Separate cases have been registered against the accused.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal said that Amritpal Singh, a resident of Jathol village, was arrested with two pistols, 15 live cartridges, and 460 grams of heroin.
In another operation, Gursahib Singh and Savinder Singh, residents of Dhanoe Kalan village, were arrested with five pistols, 8.48 kg of heroin, and ₹52,000 in alleged drug proceeds.
Police also arrested Gurkamal Singh of Khalra village and Gurpreet Singh of Butari village, recovering 1.019 kg of ice (crystal methamphetamine) from their possession.
Meanwhile, Ajnala police arrested Sunny, Lavjeet Singh, Gursewak Singh, and Swaraj Singh, all residents of Ladeh village, and seized three pistols from them.
In a separate operation, Kathunangal police recovered 2 kg of heroin from a vacant plot, while Tarsikka police arrested Ravlajeet Singh, a resident of Timowal village, with one pistol.
SSP Chahal further stated that the police have frozen properties worth more than ₹1.20 crore belonging to accused involved in narcotics trafficking. He added that proceedings are underway to freeze the assets of suspects in 80 more drug-related cases.
Police officials reiterated that the campaign against drug trafficking and illegal arms networks will continue with full force. They also urged the public to share any information related to narcotics smuggling or other illegal activities so that prompt action can be taken.
