More than 100 residents of Nirala Green Ark Society in Greater Noida West have reportedly fallen ill after the supply of contaminated Ganga water in the residential complex. Residents claim that laboratory testing confirmed the presence of harmful bacteria in the water, triggering panic among the 1,640 families living in the society’s 11 towers.
According to residents, complaints regarding the poor quality of the supplied water had been raised repeatedly over the past two months. During the last week, several cases of vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, and fever were reported on the society’s WhatsApp groups.
As the situation worsened, the Apartment Owners Association (AOA) sent water samples to a private laboratory for testing. The report allegedly found the water unfit for drinking and detected the presence of coliform and E. coli bacteria, which are considered major causes of water-borne diseases.
Residents have accused both the AOA and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority of negligence in ensuring safe drinking water supply. They claim that more than 100 people have fallen sick in just two weeks, including around 70 children.
The incident has raised serious concerns over water safety and public health standards in high-rise residential societies in Greater Noida West. Residents are demanding an immediate investigation, medical assistance for affected families, and urgent corrective measures to restore a safe water supply.
