Punjab Government has intensified its flagship anti-drug campaign, 'War Against Drugs', by launching the 'Pinda Da Haal' Action Plan, aimed at strengthening community participation in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking at the grassroots level.

The action plan was finalised during the "Pinda Da Haal, CM De Naal" review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in June. It provides a structured framework for coordinated implementation, regular monitoring and sustained public participation through village-level anti-drug initiatives across Punjab.

The campaign focuses on empowering local communities by strengthening village-level participation through district and state review meetings, village-specific anti-drug strategies and an effective monitoring mechanism.

A key component of the initiative is the Nasha Mukti Morcha, formed on April 15, 2025, alongside a statewide anti-drug awareness campaign covering five strategic zones. The Morcha's Block Coordinators serve as a bridge between the administration, police, health authorities and local communities, leading awareness drives, promoting rehabilitation and encouraging community involvement.

To reinforce the campaign, district-level review meetings are being conducted across Punjab with Block Coordinators, Village Defence Committee members and local officials. The meetings are reviewing progress, identifying local challenges and improving coordination to strengthen the state's anti-drug efforts.

Punjab currently has 1,708 Block Coordinators working with more than 1.25 lakh members of Village and Ward Defence Committees to spread awareness, encourage treatment and rehabilitation, and strengthen vigilance against drug trafficking.

The review meetings began on July 6 in Tarn Taran, Amritsar Urban and Amritsar Rural, followed by Gurdaspur and Pathankot on July 7. Subsequent meetings have been held in Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, SBS Nagar, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar and Patiala Urban.

Next phase will cover Sangrur, Patiala Rural and Malerkotla on July 11; Barnala, Bathinda and Mansa on July 12; Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ferozepur and Fazilka on July 13; Faridkot, Moga and Ludhiana Urban on July 14; and conclude on July 15 with meetings in Ludhiana Rural-I, Ludhiana Rural-II and Fatehgarh Sahib.

Punjab Government said the initiative complements ongoing enforcement against drug traffickers by promoting greater community ownership, youth participation and public awareness, with the long-term goal of making Punjab a drug-free state.
