BJP Nominates Rekha Sharma as Rajya Sabha Candidate from Haryana

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, December 9-

The ruling BJP on Monday nominated former chairperson of the National Commission for Women Rekha Sharma to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana.
Rekha Sharma is the former chairperson of the National Commission for Women. She was appointed as the chairperson of the National Commission for Women in 2018 and resigned from the position in August of this year.
The seat was vacated after the recent election of Krishan Lal Panwar of the BJP to Israna assembly segment in Panipat in the recently held state polls.
Panwar is now Panchayati Raj Minister in the Nayab Singh Saini government in the state.
Rekha Sharma has a close relationship with Prime Minister Modi. She has been associated with Modi since his tenure as the in-charge of Chandigarh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, when he lived in Panchkula. Before PM Modi’s visit to Panipat on Monday, the party announced Rekha Sharma’s name as the candidate.
