BLOs are matching the voter list of the last intensive revision from the year 2002 with the current voters: CEO

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer A. Sreenivas, said that as part of the pre–Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the state, all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are matching the names of current voters with the voter list of 2002, which was prepared during the previous intensive revision. Additionally, voters whose names are not listed in the 2002 electoral rolls but whose parents, grandparents' names were listed in the 2002 electoral rolls are being matched.

He said that to complete this work on time, BLOs across the state are visiting households door-to-door to collect and verify voter information. So far, about 79 lakh voters from the current voter list have been successfully matched with the 2002 voter list.

He said that voters who do not know in which part or Assembly Constituency their name, or the name of their parents or grandparents, appears in the 2002 voter list can search under the option “Search your name in last SIR” available on the Election Commission of India’s website.

The Chief Electoral Officer has requested all voters to cooperate by providing correct information to the BLOs during their visits so that an error-free electoral roll can be prepared.
