Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police jointly recovered 11 kilograms of heroin from a field near the India-Pakistan border. Preliminary investigations indicate that the consignment was smuggled into India using a drone from Pakistan and hidden in an agricultural field for later retrieval.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surinder Lamba said the operation was launched following specific intelligence received by Sub-Inspector Vipin Kumar, Station House Officer of Valtoha Police Station. The input suggested that local smugglers were in contact with Pakistan-based handlers through WhatsApp calls and had arranged for a large heroin consignment to be delivered via drone.

Acting on the intelligence, BSF personnel and the Valtoha Police carried out a joint search operation in the border area. During the search, officials recovered a plastic bag and several loose packets concealed in the field of farmer Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Lakhna village.

Upon examination, the recovered packets were found to contain 11 kilograms of heroin.

SSP Lamba described the seizure as a significant success for security agencies in their ongoing crackdown on cross-border narcotics smuggling. He said a case has been registered against unidentified traffickers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Valtoha Police Station, and further investigation is underway to identify those involved and trace the entire smuggling network.
