Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, August 29-
The CEO Haryana has received a complaint from the AAP regarding a recent post on X by the @BJP4Haryana handle. The complaint alleges that a campaign video posted by the BJP features a child, which AAP claims is a violation of Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and the Model Code of Conduct already enforced in the state.
The Election Commission of India has issued clear instructions vide its letter No. 4/3/2023/SDR/Vol.X, dated 5th February 2024 prohibiting the involvement of children in election-related activities. These directives have been communicated to all recognized national and state political parties. The ECI had directed that no child should be involved in election process by political parties and election officials.
Paragraph 5 (b) Note 2 of above mentioned instructions of ECI states that “It is clarified to obviate any doubt that all political leaders/ candidates should not use children for campaign/ canvassing/rallies/yatras etc in any manner, including holding a child in their arms, caring a child in their vehicle or making child a part of election campaign/rallies etc.
