CHANDIGARH: The Chandigath administration has allowed buses from other states to enter city with immediate effect and decided to operate inter-state bus service by Chandigarh Transport Undertaking(CTU) from September 16. The bus service was shut down due to Covid in April last.
The CTU management has written letters to other states includi9ng Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Dehi, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand and Jammu and Kashmir to start long route buses to Chandigarh.
The decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Punjab Governor and UT administrator VP Singh Badnore. The meeting however resolved to follow all Covid-19 protocoles during bus operations.
In the meantime, it has been decided to make sector 17 inter-state bus terminal operational after shifting vegetable mandi back to Sector 26. The mandi was shifted to Sector 17 due to corona virus cases emerging in Sector 26.
