Haryana's Minister of Development and Panchayats Mahipal Dhanda, has expressed his gratitude towards CM Nayab Singh for increasing the limit for development works to Rs. 21 lakh that Sarpanches can undertake without a tender. He said that by providing administrative and financial autonomy to the grassroots govt, our govt has accelerated the pace of rural development.Dhanda said this while interacting with media persons here today.
He stated that strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions is essential in the direction of making India a developed nation by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. In this series, the Haryana government is empowering panchayats through micro-level planning. He also expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for increasing the monthly honorarium of sanitation workers deployed in rural areas and those of municipal sanitation workers.
Dhanda mentioned that during the Congress government's tenure, the announcement to increase the Old Age Samman Allowance from Rs. 750 to Rs. 1,000 was made just before they left in 2014. Our government was the first to actually provide the Rs. 1,000 pension amount. Moreover, today, the Haryana government is providing a monthly pension of Rs. 3,000 to senior citizens, which is the highest in the country.
