Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned from his post following sustained demands for his resignation over the alleged NEET paper leak case. Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar for the past 36 days, calling for his removal.
Following the resignation, CJP chief Abhijeet Dipke addressed supporters at the protest site, saying, "They used to say that no one resigns in this government, but the world bows when someone knows how to make it bow."
Pradhan also shared a 575-word, two-page resignation letter, in which he addressed several issues, including mentioning twice that young people had been misled.
Despite calling the resignation a significant achievement, the protesters said their agitation would continue. Speaking at Jantar Mantar, Dipke said the group has two additional demands: ₹1 crore compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide in connection with the controversy, and strict action against police personnel involved in the matter.
The Cockroach Janta Party later posted on social media, declaring the resignation as "a victory for the Cockroach movement."
