Punjab has begun the door-to-door enumeration process under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls, with 24,453 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) starting household visits across the state on Thursday. The enumeration phase, scheduled from June 25 to July 24, 2026, aims to reach over 21.46 million registered voters across Punjab.

Setting an example for citizens, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra, IAS, completed her own enumeration form along with her family members and urged residents to cooperate with BLOs visiting their homes. She emphasized that public participation is crucial for preparing accurate, inclusive and updated electoral rolls.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, the first day of the campaign witnessed an encouraging response, with enumeration forms being distributed successfully across the state.

Voters have been advised to keep a recent colour photograph ready, fill and sign the form, submit it to the BLO, and retain a copy until the SIR process is completed.

Mitra assured citizens that there is no need for concern if they miss a BLO visit. In such cases, forms will be delivered through the door, and a sticker indicating the next visit date will be placed outside the residence. BLOs will make three visits to collect completed forms.

She further clarified that if a voter is unavailable, any adult family member may sign and submit the form on their behalf after declaring their relationship with the voter.

To make the process more convenient, voters can use the ECINet mobile application, including the “Book a Call with BLO” feature for direct assistance. Filled forms can also be submitted online through the ECINet app or the Voter Service Portal, where they will be verified by the respective BLO. Previous SIR records are also accessible through these platforms.

The rationalisation of polling stations will continue until July 24, 2026. Draft electoral rolls will be published on August 3, while claims and objections can be submitted between August 3 and September 2. These will be resolved by September 28, and the final electoral rolls will be published on October 1, 2026.

The Chief Electoral Officer reiterated that active public cooperation is essential to strengthening Punjab’s democratic process and ensuring accurate and updated voter lists.
