Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry has issued a firm directive that all pending drain cleaning, river desilting, and short-term flood control works across the state must be completed by June 15 without exception. Chairing the 57th Haryana State Drought Relief and Flood Control Board (HSDR & FCB) meeting, the Minister emphasized that the state government is fully focused on ensuring zero disruption during the upcoming monsoon season and any delay or negligence will invite strict action. She reviewed the progress of ongoing works and instructed officials to accelerate execution on a war-footing, especially in vulnerable and flood-prone areas.
The Minister clearly stated that accountability will be fixed at every level, warning that concerned Chief Engineers will face strict action in case of delays or poor-quality work. She also highlighted that a final review of all flood control preparations will be conducted personally by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, making timely completion even more critical. Officials were directed to immediately start any remaining pending works and ensure the procurement of essential equipment like pumps and pipes is completed well in advance to avoid last-minute hurdles. Contractors failing to meet deadlines were also put on notice, with instructions to officers to initiate blacklisting proceedings against defaulters. Senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Agarwal and other department representatives attended the meeting, where decisions taken in the previous review were also assessed. The Minister reiterated that public safety and efficient water management remain top priorities of the government, and all departments must work in coordination, speed, and full responsibility to ensure flood preparedness is completed within the stipulated timeline.
