A Mohali court has sentenced an employee of the District Education Officer (Elementary) who was caught red handed taking bribe to four years imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees.
According to the information, the complainant Sohan Singh of village Asarpur of Tehsil Chamkaur Sahib of district Rupnagar used to drop Divyang children and staff to school in his auto. He used to get payment from the office of the District Education Officer. It has been told that to pass a bill of auto fare, office employee Santosh Kumar demanded five thousand rupees from Sohan Singh. The accused threatened that if the money is not given then his payment will be stopped. On the complaint of the victim, Vigilance, with the help of two witnesses, arrested the accused Santosh Kumar red handed while taking bribe. During the trial of this case, the complainant Sohan Singh in collusion with the accused Santosh Kumar turned hostile in the court. Due to this, the court declared the witness hostile.
According to the information, the accused was presented in the Mohali court, from here the court has sentenced Santosh Kumar to four years imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees. The accused has been sent to Rupnagar jail. Apart from this, action has also been initiated against Sohan Singh for turning hostile in this case.
