India has witnessed yet another sharp increase in fuel prices, as oil marketing companies on Tuesday raised petrol and diesel rates by nearly 90 paise per litre. This marks the second fuel price hike within just one week, adding to the burden on consumers already struggling with rising living costs.

The latest revision comes only three days after the Central Government increased petrol and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre across the country on Friday. Following that hike, petrol prices in Delhi had jumped from ₹94.77 to ₹97.77 per litre, while diesel rose from ₹87.67 to ₹90.67 per litre.

With Tuesday’s fresh increase, petrol in Delhi has become costlier by another 87 paise and is now retailing at ₹98.64 per litre. Diesel prices in the national capital have also surged by 91 paise, reaching ₹91.58 per litre.

The impact of the fuel price hike is being felt across all major metropolitan cities in the country.

In Mumbai, petrol prices have gone up by 91 paise to ₹107.59 per litre, while diesel has become costlier by 94 paise and is now selling at ₹94.08 per litre.

Kolkata witnessed the steepest increase in petrol prices, with a rise of 96 paise, taking the rate to ₹109.70 per litre. Diesel prices there have climbed by 94 paise to ₹96.07 per litre.

In Chennai, petrol prices increased by 82 paise to ₹104.49 per litre, while diesel rose by 86 paise and is now being sold at ₹96.11 per litre.

The back-to-back hikes in fuel prices are expected to impact transportation costs, inflation, and daily household expenses across the country.
