Haryana’s Agriculture Minister Kanwar Pal inaugurated a Block Agriculture Office in the Pratap Nagar Tehsil Complex of Yamunanagar on Sunday.
Agriculture and Horticulture officials welcomed Kanwar Pal with a bouquet of flowers. Addressing the programme, the Minister said the opening of the office will provide a lot of convenience to farmers. He said many welfare schemes were being run by the state government for farmers' welfare. The government was making all efforts to provide farmers fair prices for their crops.
The Agriculture Minister appealed to farmers not to burn crop residue. He said burning crop residue in the field reduced the fertility of the land. This polluted the environment and increased soil erosion. Hence, farmers should make proper arrangements for the disposal of crop residue. The Minister said soon, various committees of farmers will be formed and around 20 farmers will be included in one committee. This committee will talk to other farmers and provide them information on reducing the use of pesticides in the fields and on crop residue management. Along with this, information will be provided to farmers on other topics related to agriculture.
