State grants bonafide Himachali Certificate to orphans
Punjab Newsline, Shimla, March 31-
CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has fulfilled another promise to orphaned children by enabling them to obtain a Bonafide Himachali Certificate. The state government has approved this decision for orphaned children who have been residing in childcare institutions in Himachal Pradesh for 15 years or more. This decision has been taken keeping in view the challenges these children faced in availing welfare schemes and job opportunities due to the absence of such a provision in existing guidelines.
During his visit to Tutikandi Bal Ashram in Shimla on 30th October, 2024 the Chief Minister became aware of this issue and immediately directed the Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, to assess and propose a resolution. Following a detailed review of the report, the state government approved the issuance of the certificate to orphaned children, ensuring them equal access to state benefits.
Sh. Sukhu has always shown a personal commitment to the welfare of orphaned children. Upon assuming office, he made history by visiting the Tutikandi Bal Ashram instead of heading to the Secretariat, engaging directly with the children.
