A shocking case of suspected domestic violence and murder-suicide has emerged from Punjab's Ferozepur district, where a 32-year-old man allegedly killed his wife over suspicions of an extramarital affair before taking his own life.
The incident took place in Jawahar Singh Wala village.
According to police, the accused, identified as Manpreet Singh, had long suspected that his wife was involved in a relationship with a teacher at the government school where she worked as a mid-day meal worker. The suspicion reportedly led to frequent arguments between the couple.
On the day of the incident, another heated argument broke out over the same issue. Police said Manpreet allegedly assaulted his wife so brutally that she died on the spot.
After the alleged murder, Manpreet reportedly called the police himself and confessed to the crime. He then went to the same government school where his wife was employed, climbed onto the campus water tank, tied a rope around his neck, and jumped, dying at the scene.
Couple's relative, Bunty, told police that Manpreet had been suspicious of his wife's alleged relationship with a teacher for a long time, which had been the cause of repeated disputes at home.
Police reached both locations after receiving the information, took the bodies into custody, and sent them to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Investigating officer ASI Surjit Singh confirmed that Manpreet Singh allegedly beat his wife to death following a domestic dispute and later died by suicide at the school premises. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident, and the exact circumstances are being examined.
