The forest fire that broke out in the hills of Kasauli has now been completely extinguished by the Indian Army after an intense day-and-night rescue and firefighting operation.
The fire erupted around 3 PM on May 26 in the Gilbert Trail and Upper Mall areas of Kasauli. Due to the dense forest cover, the flames spread rapidly across the hills, raising concerns for nearby forest regions and wildlife. The Kasauli Brigade of the Indian Army immediately launched emergency response efforts to contain the blaze.
Army personnel worked continuously on the ground to stop the fire from spreading further by cutting fire lines and clearing vulnerable patches.
Meanwhile, helicopters of the Indian Air Force carried out aerial firefighting operations by lifting water from Sukhna Lake and dropping it over the affected forest areas. The operation continued for more than 15 hours, including overnight efforts.
Officials confirmed that the fire is now fully under control. Army teams are still monitoring isolated smoke spots in the forest to ensure the flames do not reignite. No casualties or injuries were reported during the incident, and all Army personnel and equipment remained safe throughout the operation.
Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh personally visited the affected areas and praised the bravery and dedication of the soldiers involved in the mission. He also felicitated the troops for their swift response and relentless efforts.
The operation once again highlighted the coordination and rapid disaster-response capabilities of the Indian Army and Air Force during emergencies.
