An IndiGo flight travelling from Dubai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Rajkot International Airport after the crew received a smoke warning from the aircraft's cargo compartment. The flight, carrying 194 passengers, was safely diverted as a precaution.
According to officials, the pilot received an alert indicating possible smoke in the cargo hold and immediately decided to divert the aircraft to Rajkot instead of continuing to Mumbai. The emergency landing was carried out safely, and all passengers and crew members were evacuated without any injuries.
Following the landing, the aircraft was taken for a detailed technical inspection to determine the cause of the warning. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether actual smoke or fire was present in the cargo compartment.
As soon as the emergency landing was reported, Rajkot airport authorities activated full emergency protocols. Fire engines, water tankers, and rescue teams were deployed along the runway, while the local administration remained on high alert to handle any potential emergency.
The swift response by the flight crew and airport emergency services ensured the safety of everyone on board, and no casualties or damage have been reported.
