Jalandhar Police on Friday arrested three local residents for allegedly spying for Pakistan-based handlers and sharing sensitive national security information in exchange for money. The police have registered a case against the accused under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and launched a detailed investigation into the network.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Satinder Singh said a special investigation team led by the DCP Investigation, ADCP Investigation, and DSP Investigation carried out the operation that resulted in the arrests. All three accused are residents of Jalandhar.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Pradeep Singh, son of Hardev Singh, Bhagat Verma, and Sachin Khosla. According to the police, the trio came into contact with Pakistan-based handlers through social media and allegedly received substantial payments for passing on classified information.

Investigators revealed that the accused were allegedly acting on the directions of anti-national operatives Shehzad Patti and Samaj Gurjar, who are believed to be operating from Pakistan. The handlers allegedly coordinated activities aimed at compromising India's national security.

Police said the group primarily conducted reconnaissance of sensitive government and strategic installations across Punjab and several other states. The accused allegedly collected photographs, maps, and other confidential information related to key government and security establishments before transmitting the material to their handlers in Pakistan.

Authorities said further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the espionage network and identify any additional individuals involved.
