The CIA Staff of Jalandhar Rural Police has arrested two alleged members of the notorious Donny Bal gang, including a key operative and an alleged arms smuggler, during a special operation. Police recovered a Swift car, a .30 bore pistol with three magazines and nine live cartridges, a 12-bore pump-action gun, and a .32 bore pistol along with two live cartridges from the accused.
The arrested men have been identified as Sukhjinder Singh alias Bittu, a resident of Amritsar, and Manish alias Jansa, a resident of Hoshiarpur. According to police, both have extensive criminal records, including cases related to murder, attempted murder, the Arms Act, and the NDPS Act.
Police said they received intelligence that members of the gang were moving around the area with plans to commit a serious crime. Acting on the tip-off, officials set up checkpoints and successfully intercepted and arrested the suspects.
During the investigation, police revealed that Sukhjinder Singh allegedly came into contact with gangster Donny Bal while lodged in Amritsar Jail in 2017. Investigators claim that the duo later formed their own criminal network, which was reportedly linked to the ongoing rivalry with the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang. To avoid rival gang members, Sukhjinder had allegedly been hiding in the Bilga and Mehatpur areas of Jalandhar Rural while stockpiling illegal weapons for protection and criminal activities.
Police further disclosed that a foreign-made Glock pistol recovered by Mehatpur Police in March 2026 had allegedly been supplied by overseas-based gangster Donny Bal through Sukhjinder Singh. In a separate operation, Manish alias Jansa was arrested near the canal bridge at village Daili Kalan, where police recovered another .32 bore pistol and live cartridges from his possession.
Officials said Sukhjinder Singh faces around 12 serious criminal cases registered across Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Jalandhar, including charges of murder, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act. Manish also has multiple cases registered against him under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act in Hoshiarpur.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the gang's network, identify additional associates, and uncover the source of the illegal weapons.
