Fortis, Indus, Max and IVY hospitals are defying the rules
MLA Kulwant Singh already raised the issue in the assembly
But the proceedings are limited to papers
Punjab Newsline, Mohali, June 26-
The city of Mohali, adjacent to Chandigarh, is facing a serious problem of traffic jam these days. This city of Mohali district is considered to be the hub of employment and education, but the large multispecialist hospitals here are being accused of irregularities and flouting government directives.

There are big hospitals in the city like Max, IVY, Fortis and Indus which are being accused that the large number of vehicles parked outside their hospitals are causing traffic jams in the city as well as inviting accidents.
It is not that these hospitals do not know the government regulations, but they are sitting with a blind eye.In fact, apart from the government rules and other directives, these hospitals were given a special space for parking. In which Max Hospital has 216.88 square feet, IVY has 17564.491 square feet, Fortis has 10455.28 square feet and Indus has 2348.71 square feet of parking space which includes both surface as well as basement parking.

But it is alleged that this hospital parking space is being used for personal purposes instead of parking, due to which the vehicles of patients' relatives, timardars and others are parked on the roads.
In the parts of the city where these hospitals are located, the traffic system is completely disrupted. People park their vehicles everywhere due to which pedestrians and other drivers are facing a lot of problems.

It is not that no attempt was made in this case. When this matter came before Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh, he promised to take immediate action and resolve it for the convenience of the people.

He asked the question in this context during the sixth session of the 16th Legislative Assembly of Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the year 2024-25 i.e. the budget session. So the government immediately came into action.

Responding to this, the government said that while passing the building plans of the hospitals on behalf of Gamada, the space for the parking of vehicles was fixed.

But the investigation found that the basement parking in these hospitals is not being used for the intended purpose. For this, under Section 45(3) of the Punjab Regional Town Planning and Development Act, 1995, the estate officer issued a show cause notice to these hospitals, but the problem remains as it is.

An attempt was made to talk to the officials of the concerned department in this regard, but they did not pick up the phone.

At the same time, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the people of Mohali have sent him to the assembly after winning with a huge majority, so it is his duty to solve every problem of the city residents. He said that those hospitals in Mohali who are flouting the rules will be dealt with as per the law and the issue of parking will be resolved very soon.
