NIT Kurukshetra Set to Reach New Heights in Research and Innovation: Governor

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

At the 20th Convocation of NIT Kurukshetra, Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that the institute is emerging as a vital pillar in India’s research and innovation ecosystem and will continue to scale new heights in the coming years. The event was graced by the Vice President of India, Sh. C.P. Radhakrishnan, as the Chief Guest, while Haryana CM  Saini attended as the Guest of Honour.

Congratulating the degree and medal recipients, Governor Prof. Ghosh said that their achievements resonate with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He added that the Haryana Government, under the leadership of CM  Saini, is committed to this vision through reforms in education, digital governance, industrial collaboration, and inclusive rural development. He highlighted that NIT Kurukshetra has undergone remarkable academic transformation in recent years. The institute now offers 15 undergraduate and 28 postgraduate programs, including 17 M.Tech, four M.Sc, MBA, MCA, and integrated B.Tech–M.Tech courses.

The Governor emphasized that a convocation is not just a ceremony to receive degrees but a moment to pledge to use one’s knowledge with humility, compassion, and responsibility. He expressed hope that students will remain lifelong learners and contribute to building a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable India—reflecting the spirit of One Earth, One Family, One Future.

CM Saini, in his address, said that innovation is the only way to overcome the challenges of a rapidly changing world. He urged graduates to use their skills to simplify and solve societal issues. He emphasized that the youth play a crucial role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India. Therefore, young people should aspire not only for employment but also to become job creators, solution providers, and leaders in innovation.

He noted that NIT Kurukshetra, established in 1963, has achieved significant progress and is now recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in technical education. He further stated that the Haryana Government is consistently working to strengthen technical education and skill development. The state now has four technical universities, compared to none at the time of Haryana’s formation. The number of government technical institutions has increased from 29 before 2014 to 44, while private institutions have reached 198. Centers of Excellence have been established in four government polytechnics, and four new polytechnics are under development.

The Chief Minister added that Shri Vishwakarma Skill University in Dudhuala, Palwal, has become a major center for training youth in emerging technologies. Haryana, once primarily known as an agricultural state, is now advancing rapidly in science and technology.

The event was attended by Dr. Tejaswini Anantha Kumar, Chairperson, Board of Governors, NIT Kurukshetra; Prof. B.V. Ramana Reddy, Director, NIT Kurukshetra; and other distinguished guests.
