Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chandigarh on Friday, where he is scheduled to spend around 45 minutes at Punjab Engineering College (PEC). Ahead of the high-profile visit, Chandigarh Police has tightened security across the city, with nearly 3,000 police personnel being deployed to ensure smooth arrangements.
As part of the security measures, police personnel's leave has been cancelled until the conclusion of the Prime Minister's visit. A nearly 2-km stretch from Rajendra Park to Punjab Engineering College has been declared a high-security zone.
Traffic diversions will remain in effect on the route from Nayagaon towards the Chandigarh Barrier during the visit. Vehicular movement will also be regulated at the Sector 2/3/10/11 intersection to facilitate the Prime Minister's convoy.
Chandigarh Police has been placed on high alert, with the Director General of Police personally monitoring the overall security arrangements. Central security agencies, including the Border Security Force (BSF), have also been deployed along the Prime Minister's designated route.
The event at Punjab Engineering College is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM, while entry for attendees will start from 11:00 AM. Visitors will not be allowed to carry any items inside the venue, including water bottles. Every attendee will undergo mandatory security screening before being granted entry.
